CAM Food Pantry / CAM Garden Assistant
ACCOUNTABILITY:
This position reports to the Food Pantry Director and/or Food Pantry Assistant Director
OVERVIEW OF THE POSITION:
The primary responsibility of this job is to carry out the food pantry guidelines and standards set by the ministry to assist clients who come in for food assistance.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Pantry Operations: Unload, sort, and store food donations/deliveries; stock shelves; manage inventory; and maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary environment.
- Client Services: Greet clients, check them in, assist with food selection, and prepare food boxes.
- Garden Support: Assist with coordinating group or individual garden projects, which include planting, weeding, watering, mulching, and harvesting produce.
- Administration: Assist with data entry of client visits and tracking incoming donations.
- Coordination & Safety: Assist with food drives, food fairs, senior program distributions, picking up donations as needed, and adhere to food safety guidelines.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to work well with Volunteers and Paid Staff
- Ability to lift, move, and stack crates or boxes, often up to 30-50 lbs.
- Strong customer service, communication, and organization skills.
- Familiarity with food safety protocols and must be able to obtain a Food Safety Certificate.
- This is an entry level position. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. transactions.
- Able to stand for extended periods of time.
Weekly hours needed for this position: 24 – 30
